Sudbury Police Retirees Association
The Sudbury Police Retiree Association was formed in 2003 to unite former police members in fellowship and mutual support. Its purpose is to promote social connection, economic welfare, and the shared interests of retirees, while fostering cooperative relationships among police pensioners locally and across the province.
Membership is comprised of three classifications: Local Members, Other Individual Members, and Auxiliary Fellowship Members, all subject to the same dues and assessments.
Local Members include retired police officers and civilian personnel who served with the Sudbury Police Service, as well as their spouses. A surviving spouse may remain an active (voting) member even if the retired member ceases membership.
Other Individual Members are retired full-time police officers or civilian personnel from neighbouring jurisdictions whose former service was with a legally constituted police force not represented by another affiliated association in Ontario. These members hold voting privileges.
Auxiliary Fellowship Members are individuals who previously served with the Sudbury Police Service or shared a professional working relationship. This category is intended for fellowship, fraternal, and social activities and is non-voting.
The Association holds a Spring General Meeting and a Fall Annual Meeting each year, both offering refreshments at a nominal cost. Annual social events include a golf tournament and bocce tournament. Annual dues are $20 and help offset meeting and operating expenses.
