May 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Binch, on May 17th. When we were told of his passing by a friend, the subject read “We lost a good one”.

Steve was a member of our Board for 6 years. Not unlike so many of our members, it’s hard to articulate the commitment to the greater good that each individual has contributed. After serving with Hamilton Police for 32 years, Steve continued to serve. He was a husband, father, grandfather, volunteer, advocate, leader and friend.

Steve suffered from health issues and instead of succumbing to them, fought them. Realizing that he was not alone in his struggles, he supported others in their mutual battle. Steve founded the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Support Group in Hamilton. With his leadership other groups have spread across Ontario.
