London Police Retirees Association

LONDON POLICE PENSIONERS ASSOCIATION (LPPA) HISTORY
The LPPA is an organization whose purpose is to advise members of matters of importance (excluding advertising) to all retirees.
In early years (1963) there were few retirees, some would gather to
share memories, what they’d been doing or where they’d travelled.
Eventually, an Association was formed with By Laws and a Constitution
approved of by the members. Member information was collected
and a group of Call Captains was formed to contact members by phone.
With Email, members are now informed in a timely manner.
Meetings. are held semi-annually, an Annual Meeting and Christmas Dinner.
Currently membership is 195, with spouses, widows, affiliates, and
honourary members totalling 400. Membership dues are paid by
E Transfer, (currently $20/yr) and may change according to need.
Meeting meal costs may be subsidized, as required, due to high costs.
In 1997 the inaugural meeting. of the Police Pensioners of Ontario (PPAO) was held in Toronto, S/Sgt. Jim Honan, PC Doug (Chuck) Code and Lou Rivard attended.
Some of the executive would get up bright and early to attend meetings
in various locations, expenses covered. Currently the LPPA President is a member of the PPAO Board, so we are well represented.
